Phoenix, AZ: Education Division, U.S. Indian Service, 1944. First edition, 10 x 7", oblong; 76 pp., no dust jacket; Hopi text by Albert Yava, Illustrated by Fred Kabotie, Edited by Willard W. Beatty; minor spine wear and corner bumping, spine cover perished, illustrated throughout with black and white photographs by James DeKorne; very good to near fine condition. A folktale about a small field mouse that tells the village chief he will be killing the local troublesome chicken hawk. A bilingual publication put out by the government, who at long last reversed their agenda of stamping out Indian languages and instead promoted bilingual education.
