First edition, 10 1/4 x 10 1/4"; 71 pp., no dust jacket, minor spine wear and corner bumping, illustrated throughout with black and white photographs by James DeKorne; very good condition. The clean white bark of the aspen trees in northern New Mexico provided an excellent canvas for sheepherders or "partidos" to carve their thoughts and drawings, mostly of horses, dogs, hands and other subjects with some historical context given.
