Hardcover, 4 1/2 x 7 1/4", 117 pp. Brown cloth over boards with slight corner bumping, gilt stamped letter on cover and spine, some rubbing to spine ends, tissue-guarded portrait frontispiece, interior has some tanning to pages, previous owner's name on ffep, otherwise in very good condition. This essay was originally published in The Atlantic Monthly as a review of "Abraham Lincoln, a history," by John G. Nicolya and John Hay. The republication and revision is in book form here.
